BJP Leadership and Ethnic Cleansing Measures in India

NCCM is asking the Canadian government to ban officials from India who have called for racist and genocidal violence against Muslims and other minorities in India.
These 13 individuals, all members of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), should be banned from entering Canada under Section 35 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. They are among the loudest voices calling for ethnic cleansing and violence against India’s minority Muslim population. Most are leading BJP figures. Their administration has recast India as built exclusively for Hindus, with minorities as second-class citizens.
India is also set to hold the G-20 summit soon in the territory of Kashmir, where the BJP administration’s policies have been roundly denounced by all human rights organizations as utterly unacceptable violations against the people there. Under no circumstances should Canada be attending the summit.
Under the BJP’s watch, India’s human rights record has plummeted, creating a society where religious minorities are abused on a regular basis. The 13 individuals in question have contributed to this xenophobic toxicity more than anyone.
Here are just a few examples:
Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has been promoting the bulldozing of homes and businesses of protestors demonstrating against his Islamophobic policies and rhetoric. He even brought bulldozers to the protest to intimidate those participating.
Subramanian Swamy, former MP and Cabinet Minister, said that any country where Muslims become more than 30 percent of the population is in danger. He once said, “No, not all people are equal, Muslims do not fall into the equal category.”
Anurag Thakur, MP for Himachal Pradesh, once implied that Muslims are “traitors” at a 2020 rally. “What should be done with traitors of the country?” he chanted. “Shoot them,” replied the crowd.
Canada cannot stand by and watch as mass, Islamophobic communal violence grows in India. The least we can do is ban, as per our legislation, those who openly and blatantly fuel the threat of ethnic cleansing and genocide.
